Ogunquit Breakfast Stops: 5 Places To Start Your Day Sunny Side Up

We talk a lot about our Maine sunrises here in Ogunquit — the earliest in the US, and, we think, the prettiest. They’re a great reason to roll out of bed early, but a little extra motivation goes a long way. After the dew burns off (and maybe after another snooze), it’s time for another morning ritual: a hearty Ogunquit breakfast. These breakfast restaurants in Ogunquit have the skills and the skillets to start your day off right.

Sunrise before Ogunquit breakfast

The Egg & I

Right across the street from our driveway entrance on Main Street and next to a convenient trolley stop, The Egg & I is our number one go-to for breakfast here at The Dunes. It’s everything you need in an Ogunquit breakfast restaurant: friendly, efficient, and delicious. For those chasing the sunrise, The Egg & I has an added treat: 10% off menu prices from 6am – 7am. One note: with good old-fashioned cooking comes good old-fashioned accounting, so this is a cash-only restaurant. They do have an ATM.

The Omelette Factory

Some of the finest fried eggs around come filled with your choice of meats, cheeses, and veggies at the Omelette Factory. This popular spot is on Main Street in between our driveway and the heart of downtown (both are within easy walking distance). Omelettes aren’t the only option at this Ogunquit breakfast stop — the French toast is excellent, too, and we recommend trying the homemade strawberry jam.

Ogunquit Village Food MarketVillage Food Market

If you find yourself on a morning stroll through downtown Ogunquit or you’d just rather not sit in one place for too long, the Village Food Market has an excellent breakfast-and-lunch counter. Place your order at the register and you’ll have a piping hot, cooked-to-order breakfast sandwich in hand faster than you can say Ogunquit Beach. You can take the goods to go or sit down at one of the tables out front.

Bintliff’s

Brunch is the name of the game at Bintliff’s, where Bloody Marys reign supreme. Don’t get us wrong — it’s still a great family place. Bintliff’s has a massive Ogunquit brunch menu, so it’s a good option if your group really needs to fuel up for a long day. Like the other Ogunquit breakfast restaurants above, it’s conveniently located on Main Street.

Amore Breakfast

Nostalgic checkered decor greets visitors at this upscale Ogunquit breakfast restaurant. Friendly staff and fresh ingredients earned Amore a spot on Rachael Ray’s Tasty Travels a few years back, and they’ve lived up to the hype. We recommend arriving pretty early to snag a table, but if you do have to wait, you can help yourself to coffee and relax outside. This is the only breakfast spot on our list that’s not right on Main Street — it’s just a couple minutes further away on Shore Road, on the way to Perkins Cove.

Here at The Dunes

We might not have a commercial kitchen here at our Ogunquit hotel, but we do have a couple of options for breakfast without leaving your ocean view behind. If you’re staying in a cottage, try out one of these easy vacation recipes in your full kitchen. Keep an eye out for our Bed & Breakfast Package, too — offered seasonally, this two-night special provides breakfast delivered to your door one morning, and a voucher for The Egg & I on the other morning.
