Updated September 23rd.

To our Dunes on the Waterfront Guests,

Our 85th summer season will be one that we will never forget.  We were thrilled to be able to have a quiet opening on Friday, June 5th for Maine residents or anyone who has already quarantined in Maine for 14 days.

And then, we learned that beginning Friday, June 12th visitors from NH and VT can visit Maine with no quarantine or testing restrictions!  Shortly thereafter we were thrilled to learn that visitors from Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey could come to Maine without restrictions as well beginning June 26th. Beginning September 23rd, visitors from Massachusetts can travel to Maine without restrictions.  Visitors from all other states can come into Maine starting Friday June 26th – WITH Guidelines — see more below.

If you have a reservation with us: We are working with each of you to find the best fit for your stay with us.  We would love to see you for your current reservation, but if you wish to move the reservation to a later date either in 2020 or 2021 please know that we will work with you to find the best solution.  We have also relaxed our cancellation policy to allow for short notice cancellations should you need to cancel your 2020 reservation.

Where we were as of June 12th:   For those of you with current reservations for this summer, we ask you to review the latest travel mandate from Maine’s Governor Janet Mills, released on June 8th called Keep Maine Healthy.  Please review this mandate carefully, as it will affect your travel to Maine this season. Governor Mills has created an alternative guideline to a 14 day quarantine for visitors from states other than Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.  The guideline asks that adults attest that they have received a negative covid-19 test no more than 72 hours before their arrival in Maine.  We are required to receive a form that the state has created when you arrive that provides this information.

July 1 Governor Mills announced that in addition to New Hampshire and Vermont, New York, Connecticut and New Jersey residents no longer need quarantine or require a negative covid-19 to visit Maine.

We are so happy to hear as of September 23, 2020 Governor Mills announced that in additional to the above mentioned states Massachusetts residents are also allowed to visit Maine an no longer need to quarantine or require a negative Covid-19 test at arrival.

For all other travels the PDF form to complete the compliance rule is HERE.  While we hope there are revisions and updates to this “Know Before You Go” testing option, we know this does offer an alternative to the quarantine for some.   We too are working through what this means to you and for our business.  On June 12, 2020, we were informed that several more testing sites in southern Maine will open for walk in testing, with one of those being at the York Urgent Care location on route 1 in York Maine (Just off the highway exit 7).  They are not requiring a doctors order for the test and are seeing a quick return on results in as little as 24hrs (please contact them directly for details and costs/insurance coverage).  If you are not able to test at home in the 72 hr window, this may be an option for you to test when coming into the state and quarantine while waiting for the results.

Once you arrive, you can expect the same smiling faces (you’ll have to trust us as we’ve developed a facemask policy for the staff) and wonderful views that you’ve come to expect.  We have also enhanced our cleaning and sanitizing protocols for both guest rooms and public areas to align with the standards developed by the American Hotel and Lodging Association and the Center for Disease Control.  We are fortunate that The Dunes was designed for social distancing with our small buildings and plenty of space and fresh air.  Your comfort and safety, as well as the safety of our team are of utmost concern for us.  We have worked hard to create a safe space where you will still be able to relax and recharge.

If you have any questions or concerns about any of this please be in touch with us we are happy to answer your questions daily between 8am till 8pm.

Please be well and know that we can’t wait to see you!
